Amin Jai Harris, Choreographer and Dance Instructor, is a native of New York, New York (also
known as Kraven-Devon Seneca) is a dancer, choreographer, actor, writer, and entrepreneur.
As a "late bloomer" he began creating, performing and training at the age of 19. A college talent
showcase sparked his creativity and ignited an undeniable passion for creating movement,
stage spectacles and performing. Amin Jai taught himself basic coordination by studying music
video choreography performed by Aaliyah, Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson. From there he
was introduced to Broadway Dance Center where he still takes classes in Ballet, Jazz and Hip
Hop.
Amin Jai is currently a member of the Urban Theater Initiative, a Bronx and Chicago based
theater group, where he played the role of James Baldwin in the critically acclaimed play Fire
Inside:The Life and Poetry of Nikki Giovanni.
In 1999, Amin Jai founded a dance performance troupe Kraven Seneca:The Company as a
vehicle to present his purest creative endeavors. Serving as the company's choreographer and
artistic director Amin Jai has produced 4 successful dance concerts with the troupe, Sweetest
Taboos (2000), Crave (2002), The Movement Revolution (2004) and Sweat (2005). The company
has recently become incorporated and will be a fully functional non-profit organization by
Summer 2008.
Amin Jai has worked with several unsigned artists including singer/songwriter Niqki and Harlem
based vocal group YUM.
His choreography will also be presented in the upcoming independent film Blinded By Love,
produced by Evan Turner Productions.
Amin Jai's choreographic work is a fusion of Hip Hop, VOP Jazz, Street Jazz, Lyrical Jazz,
Modern, African and Improvisation dance. At best his choreography can be described as clean,
athletic, relevant, and trailblazing.
